I learned to make these one night after I realized we didn't have any tortillas for supper. I found a package of corn tortillas in the cabinet and cut them into 6 equal triangles, like a pie. Heat the oil in a large dutch oven to 375 degrees F. Add the tortillas in batches and fry until golden, you might need to flip them with tongs to brown up the other side.
Seasoning Mix:
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon onion powder
1/4 teaspoon ground cumin
1/4 teaspoon chili powder
Mix all these in a small bowl; set aside. Remove the chips to a plate lined with newspaper and sprinkle them with the seasoning mix.
