This is a really yummy way to eat your veggies! It's a favorite Southern classic. When Nana brings this to a get-together, there are never any leftovers!
Nana's Broccoli Salad
8 cups broccoli florets (use 2 fresh broccoli heads)
1 small red onion, finely diced
1 cup raisins (you can use golden or regular raisins but I've used dried currants too)
1 cup chopped pecans
6-8 bacon slices, fried and crumbled (use RealBacon in the jar if you want)
1 cup mayonnaise
1/2 cup sugar
2 Tablespoon lemon juice
Mix mayonnaise, sugar & lemon juice in a separate bowl and mix well; set side. In a large bowl, combine broccoli, onion, raisins, pecans and bacon and mix well. Pour mayonnaise mixture over the broccoli salad and mix well. Cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate for 4 hours before serving.
Enjoy!
