Oriental Salad

There's lot of variations of this salad in the family.  Cousin Brenda makes one and also Sister Donna makes one using Broccoli Slaw.  This is how Nana makes it.

Oriental Salad
2-3oz pkgs Ramen noodles Oriental flavored
1 small pkg sunflower seeds
1 small pkg slivered almonds
1 stick melted butter
1 medium head of cabbage shredded
6 green onions sliced
1 cup sugar
1 cup vegetable oil (or olive oil)
1/2 cup apple cider vinegar
2 Tablespoon soy sauce

Break the Ramen noodles in a bowl and discard seasoning packets.  Add sunflower seeds, almonds and mix well.  Pour the butter over the noodles and mix well.  Spread the mixture onto a baking sheet at 350 degrees for 10-15 minutes, flipping and turning after 6 minutes.  Cool while preparing cabbage.  Combine cabbage and green onions in a large bowl.  In a separate bowl, make the dressing:  sugar, oil, vinegar and soy sauce, whisk and then pour over the cabbage mixture.  And toss in the noodle mixture and toss lightly.  Serve immediately.

Enjoy!
